Society wins Heritage Award

This evening the Fremante Society won the Western Australian Heritage Award for outstanding contribution to heritage by a community organisation.

Fearless advocates of heritage, the Fremantle Society has played an important role in making Fremantle one of our preminum heritage places. It is a local organisation that continues to have Statewide impact.

This is a wonderful recognition of our hard work, and the importance of our advocacy for the cultural and built heritage of Fremantle.

Judge’s citation:

The Fremantle Society has always shown an outstanding contribution to heritage in the Fremantle area even when challenged by political climate. The Society did pioneering work in heritage identification and always looks at what is important to Fremantle. Its membership comprises many areas of expertise and it is committed to sharing research.

The conference, to be held in Perth, Western Australia 23-26 March 2011, is an international conference dealing with Australian and SE Asian markets and is proving to be of enormous interest to businesses across the region as exhibitors – with the number of exhibitors already committed, we expect it be one of the largest sustainable energy expos ever held in Australia – more details here at

I would also appreciate if you can pass the information about both the awards and the expo on through your networks.
